- Description: I expected one package. What I got was split deliveries and a single pencil in a giant box.

Recently I've been experimenting with a small set of Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. I got the smallest set available just to see what the fuss was about. And yes, they are awesome. The price of the full set is a tad out of reach for me at the moment (Around 400 bucks Australian). So when I noticed the office supply store sells individual pencils, I thought I could just pick up a few colours when I need them. I had a few other items to order anyhow so I'll add a darker green and a darker blue to the order and have it all delivered together, easy.

The order went through ok, but it wasn't too long before I received an email which contained the following message.

> This order will be sent in multiple deliveries

Crap! Ok that's fine, I was only charged the single delivery fee, but within a couple of days the first package arrived with everything except the 2 pencils.

Next I receive another email, this time explaining that they are unable to supply the darker green pencil, and a refund has been issued. Again, that's fine, it just means they will send the single blue pencil by itself. I was expecting another email with bad news regarding the blue pencil, but a week later a box arrives. Interstate. Melbourne to Brisbane.

Honestly, I can’t complain — it arrived perfectly intact. For a $4 pencil, that’s genuinely impressive. High five to the staff who used what they had on hand to protect it on its 1500km journey.

In future, I’ll be a bit more mindful ordering small items online. I assumed it would all ship together, but it didn’t — and the result was a lot of packaging for a single pencil, despite it being packed brilliantly and arriving unbroken.
