Living in a motor home may not be ideal for everyone, although with the rising cost of living, it has become a more affordable option for some. For me, at the time, it was a complete lifestyle change. Coming out of a divorce and home ownership, moving into a motor home represented a fresh start in life. It seemed fitting, then, that a fresh coat of paint would give Machete, my 1975 Bedford motor home, a fresh start of her own.

Machete the Motor home - Original Concept Art
Machete? you ask. well yes well the original idea was to paint it in a machete move theme. That's right, the movie with Danny Trejo. But as I delved deep into the rebuild that idea no longer felt right for the project.

I had already been living in the Motorhome for several Months, parked at friends houses and eventually parked in the driveway of my workplace when an engine rebuild was required. It was here I decided to tackle the artwork project once all the panel work was completed.

I called my mate ROMS and asked if he would be keep to help me give Machete a paint job and also teach me some rattle can techniques. I had a lot of airbrush experience but not a lot of Graff skills. We ordered AUD600 worth of Molotow Belton Cans and a box of different tips, set aside an evening and got to it.

Working on my style adding organic eyes under the alias 'Monkwhy' , ROMS added his style of text and his signature flying pyramids. I also gave ROMS an entire side to do what ever he liked for helping out on the project.

Taking most of the evening, we eventually got it done, although we did run out of certain colours.

Art work in Progress.

The Completed Artwork the following Morning.
The original plan with the motor home was to travel up to north QLD Festival hopping and exploring The Daintree rain forest however events didn't go to plan due to meeting a girl. We married and that was that, however we did a lot of festival hopping, The Dreaming, The Planting, Woodford Folk Festival and regular 'Treehuggers' Monthly land care visits to The Woodfordia site.

My Friend Mace also added some artwork, and the plan was to collect various artists work all over it and its interior.
ROMS also sent the images into Clouded thoughts magazine which got published.

So what happened to Machete the Motor home? Well that's another story. Stay Tuned.
